Chicago Senior Photos with Melissa
It’s the end of spring, and also the end of school for many high schools and colleges! I love doing photoshoots with schools and students, whether it’s capturing portraits for senior photos, and photographing at a school event. Last week I photographed a prom on Chicago’s South Shore, and as graduation quickly approaches, I offer Chicago senior photos for students in or around the Chicagoland area.
My cousin Melissa graduates high school in less than a week, so we shot her senior photos a few weeks ago! We planned on doing her photos outside, but the weather decided to change our plans. Although it rained constantly the entire weekend, we managed to find plenty of great spots to shoot indoors. When you can’t change the weather, or a busy end of the school year schedule, you work with what you have!
It’s sooo important to be flexible and have a backup plan for every weather situation. We shot at a few indoor locations around Melissa’s town, set up a studio at home, and designed and ordered her graduation announcement cards all in an afternoon.
For the blue background, we set up a simple softbox in Melissa’s living room against a wall. The bold bright blue complements her personality, and makes her blue eyes really stand out. The soft light is super flattering when there’s no natural light available due to weather or time of day.
And when shooting at home, you gotta do the “by the fireplace” photos!
Melissa will be attending the University of Richmond in the fall.
