The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur paperback cookbook

Remember this cookbook? Maybe you’ve owned a copy since it was released in 2010, or just saw me posting about it on here or over on the Facebook page. Or maybe you’ve never seen it before because you’re following this blog for other photography topics and genres, and not so much the food photography. Either way, check out this ~vintage~ cover:

The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur in paperback!

In June, The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur will be re-released in paperback with a new modern cover, design, and chapter. Woohoo! This new version will contain most or all of your favorite recipes from the original hardcover, plus a brand new chapter with recipes. I worked on the new photos at the end of the last year, and have a few of the photos to share today.

What’s new?

On the brand new cover, which features the photo for the Lemon Poppyseed Cookies, you’ll notice that the book has a foreword now. And it’s written by none other than Natalie Slater of the award-winning book and blog, Bake and Destroy! Natalie also lives in Chicago and helps organize a quarterly food and craft market called Vegan Vortex.

New Chapter

There’s a brand new chapter in this book with 7 or 8 new recipes. Since The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur is intended to be a comprehensive guide to classic, easy-to-make cookie recipes, there was an entire category of recipes that the original book was missing: meringue-based cookies! Several of the new recipes utilize chickpea brine as a meringue base or egg replacer. You’ll find recipes for basic Meringue Cookies, Coconut Macaroons, S’mores Bites, and French Macarons in the new book.

Here are a few of the new photos and recipes that will appear in the new book…

Macarons by Charis Mitchell

The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur has always been a group effort, from recipe development to testing, so keeping with the community-based approach to cookbook writing, I brought in Charis Mitchell of the blog Floral Frosting, to provide one of her famous macaron recipes for the book! The photo below is for the Vanilla Macaron recipe, which offers variations for different colors and flavors.

Pre-order your book!

At this point, you can pre-order a copy of the book through Amazon, and it will be delivered around the release date, June 7th. However, I will tell you that with the experiences of past cookbooks, books often get shipped out early! It’s not a guarantee, but if you want the book ASAP, I’d take the chance of getting the book early and pre-order. When Cheers to Vegan Sweets came out, people who ordered from Amazon reported that they received the book several weeks before the release date, and before I got my copies! So, go forth, and pre-order:

Note: If you buy a copy of The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur, or anything else on Amazon, after clicking through one of the photos or links to Amazon in this blog post, I will receive a ~4-6% commission of your purchase total (I won’t see your personal information and you won’t be charged anything extra). These affiliate links will give me 67 cents per cookbook in addition to the 75 cents per book I receive in royalties, so clearly I am getting rich. It doesn’t matter what you buy on Amazon, just as long as you get there through my link, I’ll receive the commission. If you want to support Kelly Peloza Photo and Seitan Beats Your Meat each time you shop on Amazon, bookmark my Amazon Affiliate link and use it each time you shop on Amazon.

Thanks for the support!
